1996 Xie and Johns 1995) and incur physical health problems ( Fox et al. However, researchers have also discovered that overly taxing job demands can entail great mental strain and stress ( Karasek 1979 Van Yperen and Snijders 2000 Wall et al. After all, people in leadership positions usually reach their status from seeking and succeeding in situations others may avoid. If job demands are reasonably manageable, many managers may find the challenges interesting and satisfying, as the work offers them opportunity to apply and develop their expertise and experience ( Gardner 1986 Garner and Cummings 1988 Janssen 2001 Scott 1996). Job demands are not inherently a negative phenomenon in the workplace. Specifically, job demands have been defined as “the degree to which a given executive experiences his or her job as difficult or challenging” ( Hambrick et al. The job demands research tradition is one management area that holds particular significance for studying issues managers face in their daily work ( Demerouti et al. In turn, the better the manager performs, the better the organization will do as well ( Bakker and Demerouti 2007).

The better scholars can shed insight into managing and mitigating the stressors management positions hold, the better the manager will perform as both a professional and person. Given the impact managers have on their organizations, research has examined many facets of the challenging nature of this work. People who agree to assume important management roles in organizations often bear many responsibilities to a varied set of stakeholders in their daily work. Three metaconjectures and suggested future studies are given for further consideration by organizational and psychological researchers.

In this conceptual paper, we propose a model to help mitigate time pressure on nurse managers and their frontline nurses based on the research regarding time pressure, psychosocial care, time management, and self-leadership. Paralleling research in the nursing literature suggests that, in order to improve patients’ judgement of the care they received, nurse managers should embrace ways to lower nurses’ perceived time pressure. Given the potential negative outcomes on nurses due to perceived time pressures, it seems logical that a nurse manager’s ability to lead nurses in moderating this time pressure and in turn to make better decisions could enhance nurse well-being and performance. One of the major stressors confronting nurses is perceived time pressure. And it surprised me it was on a subject I vaguely knew something about.Decision making by nurses is complicated by the stress, chaos, and challenging demands of the work. So I'm still so surprised I was able to be a guest on their show. And to me, I thought all I am was the $5 a month through their patreon, like most internet consumer/producer relationships. In the middle of preparing for the live show, JDB reached out on IG and asked if I'm okay because fires and evacuation. Jack and Leslie were very supportive of both my dumb podcasts and shared them on Twitter, they didn't have to. Struggle Session really does care about you. It was relaxing, and I said it before and I'll say it again. I already felt out of my league.īut getting into the recording with JDB and Leslie, and already familar with Jack because I just finished the episode with him. Struggle Session is my favorite Podcast and to me it's so weird, they got all these heavy hitters as guests from Chapo Trap House and Street Fight. Game Shows is an outline of notes I want to say (how do you revive it? media at the time, role of women, etc.) And FTC originally had notes, but it's best done Improvisational, much like my actual calls with friends. I don't normally come prepared in podcasts. It's trying to juggle and find that perfect balance.

But the guest episodes are a super fun as well. It's something I enjoy talking about, that I might as well hit record and talk about them. So if you have a Niche podcast of your own (someone who loves horror movies to this), you have a leftist podcast (to fight back against Chuck Woolery), or are just a funny dude who I admire, please come onto my Podcast and let's talk game shows! You have no idea how much you guesting means to me, especially on such a young podcast where I thought "nobody would agree to this"Īnd hopefully, in the upcoming months, I could get others to come on. So thanks Jack, Cait, Franklin and Brandon. I still don't know how I managed to get ONE guest, let alone FOUR. I made it through a huge block of GUEST EPISODES for my podcast, Game Shows I Suppose, and something that I thought was going to be sporadic, turns out, I might actually need to schedule and record for (I'm rolling a new one out every Friday)
